![]() ![]() ![]() They don't take reservations for all service times. the table for an hour, I was not rushed and food comes out quickly as well. I made a booking for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I've been to the Ritz for a previous birthday and their afternoon tea was absolutely amazing. If you have any allergies, I wouldn't bother going to Sketch because you won't get the quality or great customer service you'd expect from a place like this. Overall I was totally disappointed in Sketch and wish I had booked Claridge's instead. We had to ask for tea twice and waited at least 15minutes for the bill. It was clear that we were given gluten free scones.I'm sorry but gluten free or not.an establishment like Sketch should be able to do much better. No clotted cream arrived even after I asked for some. I was given margarine instead of clotted cream. The scones turned up after we had finished everything else - they were dry and crumbly. Most of the sweet items were dry and tasteless. There was a hard crispy sweet round item (see pics) that were rock solid and tasted really bitter. The sandwiches were ok with only one containing any decent flavour. For some reason we were given the same sandwiches, cakes and scone. Unfortunately the afternoon tea was shockingly bad. My husband and I booked afternoon tea to celebrate my 40th as it's a place I've always wanted to go to. The venue is lovely and the staff were generally friendly. Save your money, go to One Aldwych Hotel for their afternoon tea which is superb. Go for one drink to check the venue out, which if you look under the dimmed darked lights is actually a bit shabby and starting to fall apart. Apart from the man on the front door who is lovely and the perfect host, I unfortunately would not recommend going here. ![]() It’s funny when you ask for the bill it comes within 1 minute. We didn’t bother with the forth course of a slice of Victoria sponge. For the 3rd course it was another long 30 minute wait for our scones… finally tea provided, again it’s not breakfast tea, it’s extremely watery and weak with hardly any flavour. We eat with NO TEA provided with our afternoon tea. Another long 30 minute wait for 2nd course…. We do complain and we are told there’s long waits in the kitchen. Tea arrives, again, it’s not breakfast tea as order, it’s Assam and it is so weak it’s tasteless like hot water, and worse, it’s stone cold thus sent back yet again. 15 minutes later the first course canapé arrives, that’s over 1.15 mins after arriving at our table. waited another 30 minutes before a pot of tea arrived, no food, just a pot of tea, which was the wrong tea and was sent back. We were left waiting over 30 minutes before a server even came to see us. We were sat at a cramped table in the very over crowded, jammed packed pink room. I’m disgusted that in this day and age people are still judged and segregated in this way! I will never ever return to such a place when people like that host are the face of the company! It was blatant discrimination especially when there were so many examples of non people of colour able to come and go freely and welcomed with open arms. I’m certain it wasn’t our dress code, I “wonder” what it could have been! (Previously he told us there wasn’t a waiting area!) When it was our turn he informed us that there was a 30 min wait once again.Īt this point we realised that there was no way we were prepared to spend our money when we obviously weren’t welcome as three black women, who were well dressed and presented. When we returned there were two ladies ahead of us, he told them there was a wait of 10 mins but they could wait in the waiting area. Although I could tell he didn’t seem genuine, we decided to go out and come back in 30 mins. He then told us that it would be a 30 min wait and we couldn’t wait on site because there wasn’t a waiting area. He then asked us if we had a reservation, we informed him that the website stated that the Parlour was walk in only at lunch time (which I’m sure he was aware of). When my friends arrived, we walked in over to the host and informed him we would like to dine in the Parlour. time there were various groups of people going in some looking like impromptu visits, some dressed casually. I waited outside for 5 - 10 mins for my friends to arrive and in that. I was invited to Sketch to celebrate my friends birthday on Saturday 23rd October.y friend planned a lunch date with myself and another friend at the Parlour at 2pm.
